Mercury vs Bluevine
Mercury: no monthly fee, US wires and ACH free, 1% on wires in another currency · Bluevine: three plans with per-wire fees
Every account, cheapest first
Each company's published fees. Mercury's paid plans change none of these fees, so Mercury is priced on its free plan. Card spending in other currencies is not compared: Mercury charges up to 3%, and Bluevine publishes no figure. Exchange rates on wires in another currency are each company's own.
Mercury and Bluevine fees, side by side
Bluevine's figures run Standard, Plus, Premier. On every fee in this table that both companies publish, Mercury's is the same or lower; on a $10,000 payment in euros, Mercury charges $100.00 and Bluevine $175.00 on Standard, $145.00 on Plus, $112.50 on Premier. Bluevine's ATM withdrawals are free in the MoneyPass network; Mercury adds no fee of its own to cash in dollars, though the ATM's operator may, and it charges a conversion fee on cash in another currency.
Three businesses, priced
Plan fee plus every payment fee, with Bluevine on its cheapest plan for each month. The cash business is the case Mercury cannot serve at all, because it does not take cash deposits.

Mercury vs Bluevine: common questions
Is Mercury or Bluevine cheaper?
On the banking fees both publish (wires, ACH, checks, ATMs and wires received), Mercury's is the same or lower. US wires, same-day ACH and mailed checks are free at Mercury; at Bluevine a US wire costs $15, $12 or $7.50 by plan. A wire in another currency costs 1% at Mercury, against Bluevine's flat fee plus 1% to 1.5%. What Bluevine offers that Mercury does not is cash deposits and interest on checking balances.
What do Mercury and Bluevine charge for wires?
Mercury charges nothing to send a wire in the US or a USD wire abroad. Bluevine charges $15, $12 or $7.50 for a US wire and $25, $20 or $12.50 for a USD wire abroad, on Standard, Plus and Premier. Receiving a wire in dollars from abroad is free at Mercury and costs $15, $12 or $7.50 at Bluevine.
Which is cheaper for international payments?
In another currency, Mercury charges 1% of the amount; Bluevine charges $25 + 1.5%, $20 + 1.25% or $12.50 + 1%. On a $10,000 payment in euros that is $100.00 at Mercury against $175.00 on Bluevine Standard, $145.00 on Bluevine Plus, $112.50 on Bluevine Premier.
Can you deposit cash with Mercury or Bluevine?
Not with Mercury, which does not accept cash deposits at all. Bluevine takes cash at AllPoint ATMs for $1 + 0.5% a deposit, or through Green Dot for up to $4.95.
Do Mercury and Bluevine charge monthly fees?
Neither does on its basic plan. Mercury Plus costs $35 a month and Pro $350 ($29.90 and $299 a month billed yearly), but they change none of the payment fees above. Bluevine Plus costs $30 and Premier $95; they lower Bluevine's payment fees and are free in a month you keep $20,000 or $100,000 on average and spend $2,000 or $5,000 on Bluevine's cards, not counting ATM cash.
Which pays interest on a business checking account?
Bluevine pays interest on checking: 1.3% APY on Standard (on up to $250,000, in months you meet an eligibility requirement), 1.75% on Plus (up to $250,000) and 3% on Premier (all balances). Mercury's yield comes through Mercury Treasury, which needs a $250,000 balance and takes a yearly fee of 0.15% to 0.6% of what is held in it, depending on your total deposits.
What do they charge for card spending in another currency?
Mercury charges up to 3% on card transactions in another currency. Bluevine publishes no figure: its account agreement says Mastercard converts the amount at a rate it selects and that fees may be charged by Mastercard or third parties.
Are the paid plans worth it?
Mercury's paid plans buy tools such as recurring invoices and priority support, not cheaper payments, so they never lower the fees compared here. Bluevine's do: on US wires alone, Plus costs the same as Standard at 10 wires a month and less above that, and in a month that meets its waiver it costs only its fees.
