How Whop's pricing is put together
Whop sits between a marketplace and a payment processor, and its pricing reflects both. There is no monthly platform fee and no listing cost; the money is made per transaction, at a headline rate that looks like Stripe's until you read the rows underneath it.
The part worth understanding is that the rates stack. A sale to a buyer in another country, paying in their own currency, is not charged at some separate international rate. It is 2.7% + $0.30, plus 1.5% because the card is foreign, plus 1% for the conversion. That is 5.2% before any optional feature, close to double the domestic cost, and the most common surprise on a creator's first international month. This page covers what Whop takes when the buyer pays; moving that balance out is priced separately and covered in the Whop payout calculator.
What a $100 sale costs, by route
Same product, same price, four situations. The spread is entirely about how the buyer paid and where their card was issued, and none of it is negotiable at the point of sale.
The 3% app fee, which is on no pricing page
Whop's rate card and its fee documentation both stop at processing, surcharges and add-ons. Neither one mentions that installing certain apps re-prices the product they are attached to. The app listings do, in a single line, worded identically on each.
That placement is easy to miss and expensive to miss. Gated communities are the thing Whop is best known for, and they are delivered through exactly these two apps, so a creator selling a Discord role is paying 3% on top of the processing rate without having seen it quoted anywhere they would think to look. On a domestic card sale that turns 2.7% + $0.30 into 5.7% + $0.30, which doubles the fee on a $100 sale and more than doubles it on anything larger.
What it does to the same $100 sale, on the assumption that the 3% is charged on the amount the buyer paid:
Two things are worth saying plainly about that table. Whop does not publish which apps beyond these two carry the fee, and it does not say whether the 3% is taken from the gross sale or from what is left after processing. The rows above assume the gross, because that is what the wording “any payments on that product” reads as, but it is an assumption. That uncertainty is also why the calculator at the top of this page has no app-fee toggle: a switch would have to pick one reading and present the result as a fact. Check the listing of any app before you install it, and ask Whop which basis applies.
Charged per event, not per sale
Two Whop charges do not belong in a per-transaction calculator because a transaction does not trigger them. They are here so the number above is not mistaken for the whole cost of doing business.
On a $9 product a single $15 dispute wipes out the margin on two sales and the $0.30 fixed fee on 50. Cheap products are far more sensitive to dispute rate than to processing rate, which is the opposite of what most fee comparisons imply.

Assumptions and limits
Whop fees: common questions
How much does Whop charge per sale?
Whop's standard rate is 2.7% + $0.30 per successful card or wallet transaction. On a $100 sale that is $3.00, leaving $97.00. ACH bank debits are cheaper at 1.5% capped at $5, and buyer financing is 15% because a third-party lender is carrying the risk. Those are the base rates before any surcharge.
Does Whop charge extra for international cards?
Yes. An additional 1.5% applies when the buyer's card was issued outside your country, and a further 1% if the payment has to be converted between currencies. These stack on top of the 2.7% + $0.30 rather than replacing it, so an international sale in a foreign currency runs at 5.2% + $0.30. That is $5.50 on a $100 order against $3.00 domestically.
Does Whop charge extra for Discord or Telegram access?
Yes, and it is not on the pricing page. Whop’s Discord and Telegram app listings both carry the same line: “Adding this app to a product will subject you to a 3% fee for any payments on that product.” Since gated-community products are usually delivered through exactly those apps, a lot of Whop sellers are paying 3% on top of the 2.7% + $0.30 processing rate. That is 5.7% + $0.30 on a domestic card sale. Whop does not publish which other apps carry it, so check the listing of any app before you install it.
What is the Whop ACH fee?
ACH debits cost 1.5% with a $5 maximum and no fixed component. The cap is what makes the rail interesting: the fee stops growing above $333, so a $2,000 ACH sale costs $5.00 where the same sale on a card would cost $54.30. If you sell high-ticket items and your buyers are in the US, offering ACH is the single biggest saving available.
Does Whop have monthly fees?
No. Signing up is free and there is no monthly platform charge on standard pricing. You pay per transaction instead. Several features are priced per transaction only when you enable them: orchestration at 0.8%, billing at 0.5%, tax and remittance at 2% when tax is collected, and affiliate processing at 1.25%. Whop also negotiates custom rates for high volume, which are not published.
How much does Whop take from $100?
On a standard domestic card sale, $3.00, leaving you $97.00. If the buyer's card is foreign the fee is $4.50, and if the payment also converts currency it is $5.50. Paid by ACH the same $100 costs $1.50. Every optional feature you have enabled adds its own line on top.
What does Whop charge for disputes?
A dispute costs $15. An early dispute alert costs $29 — Whop lists it as a proactive chargeback notification fee. Both are charged per event, not per sale, so they sit outside a per-transaction fee calculator. On a low-priced, high-volume product they can matter more than the processing rate. Early alerts are meant to flag a chargeback before it becomes a formal dispute (with optional auto-refunds in some cases); early fraud warnings are separate and free. Details live on Whop’s fees and dispute docs rather than in the base processing rate.
Are Whop fees taken from the buyer or the seller?
The seller. Whop deducts its processing fee from the sale before the balance reaches you, which is why the calculator above shows "you receive" rather than "buyer pays extra". If you want to pass the cost on you have to price it in yourself: there is no automatic buyer-pays-fees toggle in the published pricing.
Is the fee on a Whop payout separate from the processing fee?
Yes, entirely. Processing is charged when the buyer pays; a payout fee is charged again when you move the balance out, and ranges from $2.50 for next-day ACH to 5% + $1.00 for Crypto. They are independent decisions and we cover the second one in the Whop payout calculator.
